In partnership with Great American Beer Festival.
Another year of the Great American Beer Festival, another whirlwind adventure! From celebrating the medal winners to learning about “the glorious inefficiency of craft”, every moment is devoted to the pursuit of hops. Just imagine 62,000 friends coming together to taste hundreds of the best beers from around the country – what’s not to love?
Of course, there’s more going on during GABF than just drinking beer – there are plenty of opportunities to learn about the latest brewing methods, compare notes on emerging beer styles, and talk about the constantly evolving landscape of beer.
Above all, GABF is a celebration of craft excellence – the highest tribute to brewing dedication. Shared passion for everything beer crackles in the air.
And of course you can’t talk about the GABF experience without mentioning the costumes! From Vikings to bridesmaids, Ghostbusters to Team USA, the pursuit of great beer seems to bring out our best creativity and passion.

For the first time in a decade, the most popular category wasn’t American-Style IPA; in a nod to the constantly-evolving landscape of craft beer, Juicy or Hazy IPA claimed the most entries by a landslide.

I’m thrilled to say that our little town of Golden won two medals this year, both of them (fittingly) gold!
Cannonball Creek Brewing won the German-Style Pilsener award for their Netflix and Pils. Our favorite neighborhood spot, Golden City Brewery – remember their delicious Cherry Bomber from last week’s Cherry Beer-Glazed Chicken Skewers recipe? – won German-Style Altbier! Legendary Red is my go-to pint at GCB, so I’m feeling quite proud of my good taste in beer at the moment.
Two thing are certain: Golden knows its way around German beers, and we all deserve to raise a glass in celebration.
And with that, another year of beer comes to an end. We’ll be back next year to celebrate great craft beer with over sixty thousand friends – come join us!
And as always, drink local. Cheers!
