Happy Sunday, dear friends! I hope your weekend has been restful. It always hurts to lose an hour overnight… are we ready for spring yet?
Our canyon has been blessed with gorgeously sunny days and freezing windy nights, and I’ve been planning our vegetable garden while we wait for (fingers crossed) another big snowstorm. I secretly love the dichotomy of seasons that’s spring in Colorado. While most of the hemisphere is stuck in the dreary grey middle, we only get the extremes, and it’s just one more thing that makes me so grateful for our life here.
I’m sitting in the sun at our picnic table and my mug is full of dark roast. Let’s do this!
March favorites.
Cookbook crush! I’ve been obsessing over Molly Yeh’s blog, My Name is Yeh, for years. It only seems appropriate that Molly on the Range deserves a full-on love fest. Molly’s cookbook voice is exactly the same as her blog voice, which is to say joyful and unapologetic and over-the-top – girl, you’re making your own sprinkles, for real? – and she totally pulls it off.
Did I mention there are coloring pages in this cookbook? And illustrated pages like ‘You Can Bahn Mi That’ and a recipe she made up for her 6th birthday, ‘Hot Dog Cheese’? Guys, there’s a macaroni & cheese flowchart. I’m in love.
I’ll leave you with this amazing intro for Italian Rainbow Cookie Salad: “The summer I moved to the Midwest was the summer that my perception of ‘salad’ was turned upside down, held firmly by the angles, and shaken free of all the vegetables that were hiding in his pockets.”
You’re not fooling anyone, Midwest. But we love you anyway.

The highs and lows of social media. I’m not crazy about social media in my personal life, so I guess it’s not surprising that some days (a lot of days) it feels like a constant struggle for the blog. Lately it’s felt harder than usual and the comparison game is too real. I just want to share recipes with you all, you know?
Goal for the week: more recipe writing, less mindless scrolling.
Have a joyful week!
