Ingredients
  • 2 T. butter
  • 1 large yellow onion diced
  • 2 tart apples thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 lb. red cabbage thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 T. brown sugar
  • 1/2 t. ground cloves
  • 1/2 t. salt
Instructions
  1. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Sauté the onions and apples until onions are starting to caramelize.

  3. Add red cabbage and cook until it begins to wilt, stirring so all the cabbage is heated evenly. 

  4. Add red wine vinegar, brown sugar, cloves, and salt.

  5. Cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for an hour, stirring occasionally. Serve hot.
