I drizzled my glasses with chocolate syrup and floated dark chocolate sprinkles on the foam, but these are just fun extras – you only need 4 basic ingredients to make this simple drink! Just be sure to shake extra hard to create frothy, silky foam.
I’m not usually much of a mixologist. This was my first time experimenting with egg whites in cocktails and I really love the silky smoothness they bring to the drink! Plus they create that gorgeous frothy layer of foam on top.
I’d suggest using pasteurized eggs to reduce the (already very small) risk inherent in eating raw eggs. You can also easily pasteurize your own by cooking them sous vide, just as I described in my sous vide eggnog recipe.
I hope this 12 Drinks of Christmas series sparks all sorts of new ideas for celebrating the holidays! I’m sharing a new drink recipe every Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday from Thanksgiving ’til Christmas. Thursday drinks are family-friendly favorites; the rest of the week is cocktails, mulled wines, sangrias, and all sorts of boozy party goodies to celebrate the season. Cheers!
